Pre & Post Treatment
Please note the below information is of a general nature and your specific requirements will be detailed during your consultation.

Pre-Treatment
-
Avoid medications and supplements that thin the blood for 2 weeks prior to your treatment to decrease bruising. Please consult your doctor if required.
-
If you are prone to cold sores please be aware that many treatments (not just those directly penetrating the lips) can stimulate reactivation of the virus. You must reschedule your appointment if you have a current/unhealed coldsore or signs of an upcoming flareup eg. tingling in the area. Even if you rarely get coldsores but have had them in the past, it we may advise you to take anti-viral medication prior and post certain injectable and penetrative skin treatments.
-
Skin should be 'prepped' with cosmeceutical skincare for dermal treatments, which will be discussed at your initial consultation. This will ensure your results are optimal and reduce unwanted side effects and damage of the skin.

Post-Treatment
You will be provided thorough after care recommendations specific to your treatment. However, in general you should:
-
Keep post-treatment cream on and do not wash your face until the next morning. A gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF should be used at this point, if advised.
-
Avoid touching the treated area or applying makeup for at least 24 hours
-
Avoid direct sun exposure for 24 hours and be vigilant to apply SPF for the following 2 weeks.
-
Be gentle touching the treatment area for 48 hours (no face down massage or harsh exfoliating)
-
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and spas for 48 hours
-
Avoid active skin products like AHA and retinol for at least 2-3 days or longer until the redness has subsided.
-
If directed by the prescriber, ensure you take a dose of over the counter antiviral medication if you have a history of coldsores.
